Driving Intra-African Trade, The Role Of Women Entrepreneurs In Transforming Economies

On 6th December 2024, Go Places attended the Ethiopian Women Exporters Trade Mission event at the Ethiopian Embassy in Nairobi, a platform dedicated to empowering Ethiopian women and showcasing their unique products. This initiative, organized by the Center for Accelerated Women’s Economic Empowerment (CAWEE), highlights the strength and innovation of women entrepreneurs across various sectors.

The event focused on promoting Ethiopian-made products, including specialty coffee, textiles, leather goods, gemstones, and handmade jewellery. These items reflect the rich cultural heritage and sustainability efforts of Ethiopian women, offering a glimpse into their craftsmanship and dedication.

A highlight of the mission was the emphasis on fostering partnerships between Kenyan and Ethiopian businesses, creating avenues for trade and collaboration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement. Through activities like panel discussions, masterclasses, and a trade fair, attendees explored opportunities for direct sales and long-term trade relationships.
