Kilifi Wellness Festival Returns For Its Fifth Edition

KILIFI WELLNESS

Kilifi Wellness Festival

Kenya’s first boutique wellness festival, the Kilifi Wellness Festival is a celebration of life: four days of joy on the beach. The fifth edition of the Kilifi Wellness Festival is from 15th to 18th February, Valentine’s Weekend, when the world embraces love.

Where an imposing creek meets a white sand beach, Kilifi is perhaps the most spectacular of Kenya’s

coastal towns. The cliffs that line the creek are topped with whitewashed coastal houses, palm trees and baobabs, while the water beneath is dotted with yachts. Around the headland, the beach gleams white and the sea sparkles.

Most of the festival takes place at Salty’s Kitesurf Village on Kilifi’s stunning Bofa Beach. SUP sessions take place at Three Degrees South Water-sports Centre and the Dhow Cruise sails up cliff-lined Kilifi Creek. Participants can dive into all the festival activities, or choose to dip in and out of the festival, take long walks along the beach and swim in the sparkling sea.

There’s a wide diversity of activities to heal the body, ease the mind and soothe the soul. Whether participants want to stretch their bodies or relax, to challenge their minds or unwind, the festival has something for them.

The festival starts at 11am on Thursday 15 th February with a welcome ceremony followed by a sound bath beneath the trees, and finishes at 6pm on Sunday 18 th February with a cacao ceremony at sunset. It takes place at Salty’s Kitesurf Village on Bofa Beach and 3 Degrees South Water sports Centre on Kilifi Creek. The selection of professional teachers offer a plethora of movement styles, thought-provoking workshops, healing modalities and local products to curate a deeply nourishing experience. Expect Yoga, Aerial, SUP, Dance, Meditation, Laughter, Qi Gong, Acroyoga, Art, Writing, Ab Workout and more.

Workshops and discussions include Decoding Self Sabotage, Simple Living Health Hacks, Forgiveness and Healing, Injury Prevention, Art Mandala Creation, Sacred Sexuality, Finding your Value, Connection Games, The Elements, and Sustainable Lifestyle Tips. Therapists are on hand for private sessions including Body Talk, Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Reiki, Access Bars, Sound Healing, Akashic Channel, Iridology, Trauma Release and Massage. The festival market has a wide selection of wellness products, skin care, jewellery, clothing, coastal creations and more.

Evening activities include Open Mic, Moonrise Dhow Cruise, Cacao Ceremony, Ecstatic Dance and Beach Party. Saturday is family day and there are fun activities for children such as hula hoop, dance, face painting, acrobatics and aerial silks. Parents can buy a day pass for Saturday and spend the day at the festival, or relax at Salty’s popular beach bar while their kids are entertained.
