Kenya Is Recognized For Its Leadership In Tourism Crisis Management, With A Focus On Sustainability & Innovation
Kenya has been awarded the prestigious Global Resilience Award for its outstanding leadership and innovation in tourism crisis management and resilience. The recognition highlights the country’s efforts through the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre – Eastern Africa (GTRCMC-EA), located at Kenyatta University in Nairobi.
Receiving the award at the Global Resilience Council’s Hall of Fame Awards in London, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, praised the collaborative efforts of Kenya’s tourism sector, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to building a sustainable, crisis-resilient tourism industry.
“This award reflects the innovation and dedication of our tourism stakeholders,” said CS Miano. “We are committed to creating a tourism sector that thrives despite global challenges.”
She also highlighted the importance of partnerships in strengthening resilience, thanking the Global Resilience Council for promoting industry collaboration.
The award comes as Kenya’s tourism delegation participates in the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, showcasing the country’s diverse tourism offerings and strengthening international partnerships to position Kenya as a leader in tourism resilience.
The Hall of Fame Awards, established in 1995, honor exceptional achievements in travel, tourism, and hospitality, with categories including Resilience, Impact, Non-Profit & Association, and Sustainable Business Awards.
