LUXURY ACCOMMODATION

Come and experience authentic luxury accommodation at our tents. Karen Blixen Camp encompasses 22 large luxury canvas tents; each tent is en-suite and furnished with a large comfortable bed, Persian rugs, and a cosy armchair giving you the ultimate in camping luxury. All tents are set on beautiful wooden platforms with spacious verandas. On the cushioned daybed, one can enjoy an afternoon siesta, taking in the wonderful surroundings.

GAME DRIVES

Home to Africa’s iconic Big 5 animals and part of the route taken annually by over 2.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes, game drives within the conservancy are a sure way to give you that classical safari feeling at the Karen Blixen Camp.

Guests of Karen Blixen Camp are able to enjoy early morning game drives, afternoon game drives, full-day game drives, and thrilling night game drives within the Mara North Conservancy. Game drives are undertaken with a highly experienced driver guide who is committed to sharing his or her knowledge on wild animal behaviour and the complexity of the Mara Ecosystem.

BUSH MEALS

We arrange the most amazingly set bush breakfasts and lunches at carefully selected areas, offering guests the most spectacular view of the Savannah and as the perfect surprise after an exciting morning game drive. If one wishes to venture a little further, one can also enjoy a romantic private sundowner away from the camp or bush dinner set beneath the starlit African night.

Karen Blixen Camp is a family-friendly camp that offers family tents, child-friendly meals, flexible meal time for kids and arranges for kids’ activities such as guided nature walks, bow and arrow shooting, fire making, bead making, spoor casting, throwing seed-balls using catapults and slingshots. There is also a small intimate pool where the kids can cool off after a day’s activities.

MARA NORTH CONSERVANCY

Mara North Conservancy is a beautiful wilderness area of more than 30,000 Ha. The Conservancy is a not-for-profit public company established on the 1st of January 2009 as a partnership between 10 member camps and over 800 Masai landowners. The aim is to create a best-practice, world-class conservancy with long-term commitments to the environment, wildlife and local communities.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Climate: The long rains generally start in mid-April and last till mid-June, whilst the short rains fall during the month of November. Even during these ‘green’ seasons it generally rains at night, with bright skies during the day.

Temperatures: The hottest months tend to be October, January and February, whilst July and August can be quite cold, particularly during the evening and night when a warm sweater or jacket is recommended. Temperatures range from 15-35 C.
