Strategic Alliance Behind ZTIS 2025 Aims To Drive Global Investment, Promote Tourism, And Transform The Island’s Economic Landscape
A landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was officially signed today, 6th May 2025, in the presence of the Honourable Minister of Tourism and Heritage, Mudrick Soraga, marking a transformative milestone for Zanzibar’s tourism and investment landscape.
This strategic agreement brings together the Zanzibar Tourism and Investment Show (ZTIS) and all major tourism and investment stakeholders, including the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism (ZCT), the Zanzibar Association of Tourism Investors (ZATI), the Hotel Association of Zanzibar (HAZ), the Zanzibar Association of Tour Operators (ZATO), the Zanzibar Tour Guides Association (ZATOGA), the Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), the Real Estate Development Association (REDA), and many more associations from both Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania.
In his remarks, the Hon. Minister Mudrick Soraga described the event as “a significant step forward for the betterment and promotion of Zanzibar,” adding that “for the first time, all key institutions have come together in unity, putting the interests of Zanzibar first.” He further highlighted that “we have now created a united front that reflects the unwavering support of all institutions toward the Government of Zanzibar and its development agenda.”
This collaborative alliance sets a strong precedent for boosting visibility, driving investment, and ensuring sustainable growth—firmly positioning Zanzibar as a premier destination for tourism, hospitality, and real estate development.
The Zanzibar Tourism and Investment Show will be held on 20th and 21st June 2025 at the Zanzibar Exhibition Centre, Dimani. With this MOU, all stakeholders have pledged to promote Zanzibar under a single, unified banner, aiming to grow ZTIS into the largest tourism and investment exhibition in Africa. The show will serve as a dynamic platform to showcase Zanzibar’s untapped potential, attract global investors, and support long-term development that benefits local communities.
During the press conference, each association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the vision of His Excellency Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, who has positioned tourism as a key pillar of national growth. This unified endorsement aligns with the government’s broader mission to enhance Zanzibar’s global standing, stimulate inclusive economic progress, and create meaningful opportunities for its people.
Tourism remains one of Zanzibar’s fastest-growing sectors, contributing over 30% of the island’s GDP and employing thousands directly and indirectly. The destination welcomed over 736,755 international visitors in 2024, a number on track to rise significantly in 2025. Parallel to this growth, the real estate and investment sector is witnessing a surge, with increased demand for holiday homes, resort developments, eco-lodges, and mixed-use investment properties.
As both tourism and real estate investment continue to thrive, the Zanzibar Tourism and Investment Show is emerging as the premier platform for connecting key players across sectors. The event brings together industry leaders, government representatives, developers, innovators, and global investors, creating a space for high-level networking, project showcases, and strategic partnerships. It serves as a launchpad for new ventures, while offering direct access to investment-ready opportunities across hospitality, infrastructure, eco-tourism, and luxury real estate. All showcasing Zanzibar’s future as a beacon of opportunity and sustainable development in Africa.
