Coastal Synergy, Uniting Uganda & Kenya For A Smarter & Inclusive Tourism Future
The 4th Uganda–Kenya Coast Tourism Conference & Exhibition unfolded in spectacular way at the Ocean Beach Resort & Spa in Malindi on October 27–28, 2025. With the theme “Leveraging Youth, Innovation and Technology for Responsive and Inclusive Tourism,” the event brought together regional stakeholders, innovators, and tourism leaders to spotlight Kenya’s coastal potential—particularly Malindi—as a prime destination for conferences, investment, and leisure. The conference served as a vibrant platform for cross-border collaboration and forward-thinking dialogue.

The official opening ceremony on Monday, October 27th was graced by Hon. Rebecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, alongside Hon. Gideon Munga’ro OGW, Governor of Kilifi County. Their speeches emphasized the importance of regional unity, youth empowerment, and sustainable tourism development. The dignitaries’ presence set a tone of ambition and inclusivity, with group photos and national anthems marking a ceremonious start to the two-day affair.

Day one featured a dynamic Smart Destinations panel, where delegates explored tech-driven tourism strategies. The afternoon sessions showcased innovation in digital tourism, with B2B networking buzzing across exhibition booths and breakout discussions. Exhibitors such as Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Safarilink, PrideInn Hotels & Resorts, and Explore Uganda presented compelling offerings that highlighted the region’s diverse tourism assets and investment opportunities.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, delegates gathered at Lost Beach Club for a welcome cocktail that blended coastal elegance with relaxed networking. The beachside ambience, rhythmic waves, and mingling professionals created a memorable evening that celebrated the spirit of collaboration and the allure of Malindi’s beachfront hospitality.

Tuesday’s sessions kicked off with a spotlight on adventure and sports tourism, showcasing stories of cross-border engagement and active travel experiences. Midday brought cultural performances and heritage panels that celebrated inclusivity and innovation. Delegates were treated to vibrant displays of East African culture, reinforcing the region’s rich identity and tourism potential.
The conference concluded with a grand gala dinner hosted by Governor Gideon Munga’ro, where awards were presented and partnerships toasted. The evening radiated elegance and unity, with closing speeches, handshakes, and shared moments that underscored the success of the event. As delegates departed, the message was clear: the Kenya Coast is ready to lead the way in responsive, inclusive, and tech-savvy tourism.
