Review

The first part, “The End Of The Road,” lays bare the painful reality of separation. Mucira’s verses convey the raw emotions of loss, loneliness, anger, anxiety, and despair, following the shattering of a once seemingly eternal bond. The poems in this section are a testament to the shattered dreams and the emptiness that lingers after the departure of a loved one.

“In Into The Dark,” the second part, Mucira grapples with the challenge of adapting to a new normal. Memories of what once was collide with the stark realization that future plans will forever remain unfulfilled. It is here that the poet takes readers on a journey of acceptance, reflecting on what was and what could have been.

The third section, “Glimmers,” represents a turning point in the collection. Muchira begins to rekindle hope from the ashes of despair. She contemplates the path forward, letting go of what must be left behind to make room for new beginnings.

The final part, “Into The Light,” encapsulates the author’s journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and resilience. It reveals a newfound love for life and self, embracing the lessons learned during the most challenging period of the author’s life.

Waruguru Muchira’s work offers readers a glimpse into the depths of human emotions, ultimately presenting a choice—whether to succumb to darkness or to embark on a path to healing and self-discovery.
