Adventure, Conservation & Culture, Inside Kenya’s Forest Challenge 2025
On November 29th, 2025, the verdant Kereita Forest in Aberdare, Kiambu County, came alive with energy as it hosted the milestone 10th edition of The Forest Challenge. The event brought together environmental advocates, corporate allies, and nature enthusiasts for a full day of adventure, learning, and cultural celebration, all set amid one of Kenya’s most iconic forest landscapes.

The day began with vibrant performances by Gim Events, followed by energizing warm-up routines led by Bramwel Wangila, setting the tone for an action-packed morning. Attendees joined in singing the National Anthem to cultivate unity and participated in prayers led by Reverend Julius Njoroge. Motivational opening remarks from Mr. Benjamin Mundi and Ms. Nancy Ogonje inspired participants, while Mr. Jabes Okumu outlined the day’s activities. The ceremonial flag-off, led by Mr. Alex Lemarkoko on behalf of the Chief Conservator of Forests, officially signaled the start of a day dedicated to teamwork, exploration, and environmental awareness.

Throughout the challenge, participants tackled diverse forest trails designed to test endurance, collaboration, and problem-solving. A symbolic tree-planting exercise, led by Mr. Mundi, emphasized the vital importance of forest conservation. Expert judges, including John Nyaga (EAWLS), Dr. George Njagi (WCK), and Joseph Macharia (KFS), evaluated the competitions, while live entertainment, awards, and certificates ensured the atmosphere remained lively and motivating.

In the afternoon, insightful speeches highlighted the significance of sustainable forest management and active community involvement. Speakers such as Mr. Nelson Muiru (KENVO), Ms. Nancy Ogonje (EAWLS), Mr. Kibet Boen (County Commissioner, Kiambu), Hon. David Kuria (CEC, Water, Environment & Natural Resources), and representatives of Mr. Lemarkoko underscored the necessity of collective action to safeguard Kenya’s forests for future generations.

The event’s success was made possible through the support of eco-conscious partners including Safarilink, Madison Group, Kevian, Entumoto, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), PKF, Intrepid, Tradewinds, Hivos People’s Unlimited, RSA, and RUPA’s. Their collaboration demonstrated how public-private partnerships can create meaningful and lasting environmental impact.

Go Places Media was on-site throughout the day, capturing every exciting moment—from adrenaline-filled challenges to joyous tree-planting ceremonies and the camaraderie that defined the event. As the day drew to a close, one message resonated strongly: Kenya’s forests are priceless, and united, proactive efforts today are essential to ensuring their protection, sustainability, and prosperity for generations to come.
