Vision To Reality, Inside The Future Hospitality Summit Africa 2026
The Future Hospitality Summit Africa 2026 (FHS Africa) marked a landmark gathering from 31st March to 1st April 2026 at the Radisson Blu Upperhill Nairobi, preceded by a lively welcome reception at Kofisi Kaskazi on 30th March. The reception set the tone for two days of high-impact discussions, networking, and announcements, bringing together delegates, investors, and hospitality leaders poised to shape Africa’s hospitality landscape.
The summit opened with an official ceremony led by Mr. David Gitonga, Tourism Secretary of the Republic of Kenya, who highlighted Kenya’s position as a leading hub for tourism innovation and investment. Following the opening, attendees participated in panel discussions and presentations on key topics, including sustainable tourism, digital transformation, investment strategies, and the evolving dynamics of African hospitality.
A major highlight of the summit was the signing of a master agreement between The First Group Hospitality and MIDROC Investment Group. This landmark partnership will see the development and management of 10 properties across Ethiopia, significantly expanding internationally branded hospitality assets in East Africa. The signing was conducted on stage by David Thomson, Senior Vice President – Development of The First Group Hospitality, and Solomon Zewdu Damtie, Deputy CEO of MIDROC Investment Group – Hospitality Cluster, witnessed by an audience of global investors and industry leaders.
The summit also celebrated visionary leadership with the FHS Africa Award for Leadership, presented to Vimbai Masiyiwa, Co-Founder & CEO of Batoka Africa. The award was handed over by Peter Greenberg, Travel Editor at CBS News, and Matthew Weihs, Commercial Director at The Bench, recognizing Masiyiwa’s outstanding contribution to advancing tourism and hospitality across the continent. This recognition underscored the pivotal role of leadership in shaping Africa’s hospitality future.
Delegates concluded the summit with an elegant gala dinner hosted by Westmont Hospitality Group at Radisson Blu Upperhill Nairobi. The evening offered a fitting finale, combining celebration, networking, and reflection on the summit’s achievements while reinforcing the spirit of collaboration that defined FHS Africa 2026.
