Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa Commemorates World Kiswahili Language Day

Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa is proud to be a partner of the World Kiswahili Language Day Festival, set to take place in Mombasa at the Swahili Cultural Centre & the Fort Jesus heritage site from 7th – 9th of July 2023.

This day commemorates the global relevance of Kiswahili as a universal language of communication, built into the daily life of Africans, in a constant enrichment of multiculturalism.

World Kiswahili Language Day was first observed in 2022 when the United Nations declared 7th July the official day to commemorate the event annually. This makes it the first African language to be feted by the United Nations, (UN) most widely spoken in Sub-Saharan Africa and the top 10 most widely spoken languages in the World. There are currently 14 countries in Africa that speak Kiswahili and over 100 schools & colleges in the United States that offer the language as a course.

Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa has in its own unique way, kept alive the Swahili culture through decadent cuisine, themed decor, art & music in a luxurious setting. The 3-day festival will feature a rich display of tradition represented through food, fashion, art, dance, sport, literature & spoken word.
