Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa Commemorates World Kiswahili Language Day

Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa is proud to be a partner of the World Kiswahili Language Day Festival, set to take place in Mombasa at the Swahili Cultural Centre & the Fort Jesus heritage site from 7^th – 9^th of July 2023.

This day commemorates the global relevance of Kiswahili as a universal language of communication, built into the daily life of Africans, in a constant enrichment of multiculturalism.

World Kiswahili Language Day was first observed in 2022 when the United Nations declared 7^th July the official day to commemorate the event annually. This makes it the first African language to be feted by the United Nations, (UN) most widely spoken in Sub-Saharan Africa and the top 10 most widely spoken languages in the World. There are currently 14 countries in Africa that speak Kiswahili and over 100 schools & colleges in the United States that offer the language as a course.

Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa has in its own unique way, kept alive the Swahili culture through decadent cuisine, themed decor, art & music in a luxurious setting. The 3-day festival will feature a rich display of tradition represented through food, fashion, art, dance, sport, literature & spoken word.
