The City of Nairobi is replete with historical attractions which, despite urbanization transforming the city into one of the most modern in Africa, have remained encapsulated in the glamour of the Victorian era.
Nairobi is therefore a kaleidoscope of the very finest sights and sounds, a wonderland of history, culture & radiant people in a contemporary setting.

Sitting in the heart of this cosmos is the Sarova Stanley, the oldest hotel in Nairobi’s central business district and undoubtedly one of the most delicately preserved landmarks since the year 1902. A stay here allows you to explore the city’s history even without leaving its walls.

Part of this history is echoed in the heritage suites which pay homage to famous past residents. Named after explorer Henry Morton Stanley, the Stanley Suite is the hotel’s official presidential suite decorated with restored period pieces and elegant furnishings reminiscent of the era. Baroness Karen Blixen, a Nairobi citizen between 1914 & 1931 not only remains in our hearts but her memory is etched in the Karen Blixen Suite, artworks as well as other artifacts are put up in her commemoration. The Lamu Suite is a beautiful tribute to Lamu Island off the Kenyan Coast.

The Décor immerses you into the ambient & romantic Swahili-Arab influences all across the room. We have to cap it off with yet another gem at the hotel – The Exchange Bar. Sipping your favorite tipple here transforms you into a scene right out of the movie Casablanca, where distinguished gentlemen smoke cigars and sip on fine cognac. This elegant space is the original site of the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) while the first-ever crate of Tusker beer was delivered here in 1922 on order from the Long Bar, Stanley’s precursor to the Exchange Bar. 2023 in full “tourist” bloom

If 2022 is anything to go by, travel and tourism in 2023 is set to be record-breaking as the industry continues on a strong trajectory last experienced pre-COVID-19. Vital lessons were learned from the staggering losses registered by governments the world over due to travel restrictions. This year, restrictions are little if any, and the desire to explore for most people has long been restored. The total traffic of international flights in 2022 rose by 64.4% compared to 2021, according to the International Air Transport Association, IATA. A steady and earnest recovery continues not to mention how refreshing it is to experience wanderlust and truly go places.
