Go Places Managing Director Nev Jiwani Wins The Women of Excellence in Tourism Awards 2022 At The Kenya Association Women In Tourism Gala Night. This year Kenya Association Of Women In Tourism Gala Night and Women of Excellence in Tourism Awards took place on Saturday 29th October 2022 at the Hilton Garden Inn Airport Nairobi. The guest of honour at the event was the incoming Cabinet Secretary for Tourism & Wildlife Hon. Penina Malonza. This was her first official assignment. During her speech she said that her administration will play a role in protecting Kenya’s wildlife as well as putting Kenya on the global map as a preferred destination. Each year one individual is awarded the Women of Excellence in Tourism Award. This year there were two winners one of them was Mrs Alice Kamunge CEO of VERA Beauty College and Nev Jiwani the Managing Director of Go Places. The award was presented to the winner by CS Hon. She is the founder and director of several successful Kenyan companies and currently leads destination marketing and management companies under the brand Go Places™ which she started over 29 years ago.
She is very passionate about tourism and works closely with major stakeholders within the East African region to promote and market various tourism products through digital and social media platforms, reaching out to travelers globally.
A strong-minded and multi-talented individual who believes that with focus and determination anything is possible to achieve and learn in life. Her philosophy is “If it can be done today, don’t leave it for tomorrow”
Her core values are “Always provide Consistency, Quality & Delivery” and this is what she thrives on and implements in all her team members and companies.
Her career started at the tender age of 17 as a secretary and personal assistant to a director of a bespoke furniture design company. Nev was always curious and ambitious to try something new; this led her to take up a career in hairdressing and beauty and landed a job managing a hairdressing salon as the lead hair and makeup stylist.
Again wanting to try her hand at something different and travel is what intrigued her, leading her to the travel and tourism industry as a travel consultant and a travel manager. To improve her skill in tours and travel she took up a course.
Once again Nev wanted to learn more she got an opportunity to take up a course in Interior and fashion design. This was her start to becoming an entrepreneur, setting up her own company, Flash Designs.
As an avid traveler and diner, Nev was always challenged to find the best travel destinations, restaurants, and entertainment spots. This led her to start Go Places, a magazine that would tell her readers recommended restaurants, places to travel and lifestyle experiences.
