From The Masai Mara To Mount Kenya, Marriott Sets New Standards For Safari Hospitality

Marriott International, a world-renowned hospitality brand, is set to redefine luxury safari travel in Kenya with the signing of two high-end tented camps; The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp and JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp. Developed in partnership with Lazizi Group of Companies, these projects mark a major expansion of Marriott’s luxury safari portfolio and reinforce Kenya’s position as a premier destination for high-end travellers.

The two properties will introduce world-class hospitality to two of Kenya’s most breathtaking wildlife locations. The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp, scheduled to open in August 2025, will offer an exclusive treetop retreat along the Sand River, providing front-row views of the Great Migration. The camp will feature 20 luxury tented suites, including a four-bedroom presidential suite, each designed with private lounges, infinity plunge pools, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Guests will enjoy curated game drives, fine dining, a wellness spa, and stargazing experiences, blending adventure with sophisticated comfort.

Meanwhile, the JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp, set to open in early 2026, will be located within the Solio Game Reserve, a globally recognized rhino conservation area. This tranquil sanctuary will feature 20 tented accommodations, including two-bedroom suites with private plunge pools, and offer guests the chance to experience horseback safaris, night game drives, quad biking, and close-up encounters with endangered rhinos. Additional facilities will include four dining venues, a spa, a conservation center, and an open-air sky deck dining experience.

Speaking about the expansion, Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International, highlighted the growing demand for high-end safari experiences. “We have seen incredible success with our luxury safari offerings, and these two new projects represent an important milestone in our commitment to providing travelers with unparalleled experiences in nature,” he said.

Shivan Patel, Director of Lazizi Group of Companies, emphasized the impact on conservation and community development. “These projects will not only redefine luxury safari travel in Kenya but also contribute to conservation efforts and local communities. Our partnership with Marriott International aligns with our vision to offer sustainable, world-class experiences while preserving Kenya’s rich wildlife heritage,” he stated.

Both properties will be built using sustainable materials and designed to minimize environmental impact, ensuring responsible tourism that benefits both nature and local communities. Marriott International’s expansion follows the successful opening of the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge in 2023 and strengthens its presence in Kenya’s luxury hospitality market.

With these new developments, Marriott International is setting a new benchmark for high-end safari travel, offering a seamless blend of luxury, nature, and conservation in Kenya’s most iconic wildlife destinations.
