Showcasing Luxury, Culture & Safari Splendour At ILTM Brazil
Kenya is stepping onto the global luxury stage with renewed vigour, and this time, it’s Latin America’s turn to experience the magic. As the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) unfolds in São Paulo this week, the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is making a powerful statement: Kenya is ready to captivate the hearts and itineraries of Latin America’s high-end travellers.
KTB’s participation in ILTM Brazil marks a strategic expansion into untapped markets, showcasing Kenya’s rich tourism offerings to influential travel buyers from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and across the continent. With Brazilian travellers alone spending over $6.5 billion on outbound travel annually, Kenya is positioning itself as the ultimate luxury safari destination, offering immersive wildlife experiences, vibrant cultures, and sustainable tourism.
“This is more than just a showcase,” said KTB CEO June Chepkemei. “We’re making a strategic pivot to Latin America because the region holds immense potential. These travellers seek authenticity, nature, and unforgettable stories, and Kenya delivers all of that and more.”
During the four-day event, KTB is holding targeted meetings with top Latin American buyers, forging partnerships that aim to boost visitor arrivals. The numbers already speak volumes: Brazilian arrivals to Kenya surged by 27% between 2023 and 2024, a clear sign that the demand for African experiences is growing.
From the majestic elephants of Amboseli National Park to the white sands of the Kenyan coast, Latin American travellers are finding reasons to stay longer, typically 10 to 14 days, and spend more. This offers a major boost to Kenya’s tourism economy, as travellers explore the country’s diverse landscapes and communities.
But the push doesn’t end in Brazil. KTB’s comprehensive strategy includes inviting luxury operators to the 2025 Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE), launching bespoke training programs for tour agents, and organizing familiarization trips that allow travel professionals to experience Kenya firsthand.
Latin America’s booming middle and upper class, estimated at 664 million people, are increasingly seeking unique, meaningful adventures. With Kenya’s luxury tourism now front and centre at Latin America’s premier travel trade show, the future looks bright for cross-continental collaboration.
“We’re not just selling a destination, we’re building connections that will shape how Latin America explores Africa for generations,” Chepkemei emphasized. “Through initiatives like the Magical Kenya Travel Specialist program, we’re empowering travel agents to become true ambassadors of Kenya.”
As KTB makes waves at ILTM Brazil, one message rings loud and clear: Magical Kenya is ready to enchant Latin America’s luxury travellers, one unforgettable journey at a time.
