Learn About High Index Lenses With Eyeris

High Index Lenses

High prescription?

Limited choice of frames?

Heavy spec’s looking like bottle bottoms?

Not with high index lenses…

Take heart, even if your prescription is very high, you can still have a fashionable ‘hip’ frame with thin lenses to make them look cosmetically acceptable. High index lenses are of a material of higher density and result in a thinner, lighter and cosmetically acceptable spectacle lens.

There is a choice of different materials: plastic, polycarbonate or glass, as well as various degrees of density. The higher the density, the thinner the lens. Even a very short sighted person (with a high prescription) will be able to select a frame of his / her choice and need not worry that the specs will look like “bottle bottoms”.

It is however recommended that all compressed lenses should have an antiglare coating to avoid disturbing reflections on the lens surface. This will also positively enhance the cosmesis of the spectacles.

If your prescription is higher than average and you want your specs to be fashionable, light and comfy, go for high index lenses.

As always, be sure to get the “genuine product” and be well advised by a professional.
