The Art Of The Pour, Kenya Bartender Week Elevates Local Hospitality Scene
Kenya Bartender Week officially launched on Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, with a high-energy, high-altitude kickoff event held at the stunning Hero Bar, located on the 9th floor of Trademark Hotel, Village Market. The event was a dazzling fusion of craft cocktails, creative flair, and industry camaraderie, bringing together Nairobi’s top mixologists, bar owners, beverage brands, and hospitality enthusiasts for an unforgettable evening by the poolside. With the city skyline as the perfect backdrop, guests were treated to headline pours, signature concoctions, and a taste of what promises to be a groundbreaking week for Kenya’s bar culture.

More than just a celebration, Kenya Bartender Week is a nationwide initiative aimed at showcasing the immense talent, creativity, and collaboration within Kenya’s rapidly growing hospitality and bar scene. Bars, restaurants, and hotels from across the country were invited to sign up through the official website, submitting their own curated cocktail menus and recipes to be featured and served during the week. This open-access model empowers venues of all sizes to participate, bringing the spotlight to both emerging and established mixology hubs.

At the heart of the program is the Takeover Series, a unique activation where local host bars partner with visiting bartenders—both regional and international—to co-create cocktail experiences and exchange skills. On Thursday and Friday, these takeovers are set to electrify Nairobi’s nightlife scene at leading venues including Hero Bar, Revolver, Beit e Sala, Artcaffe Gastro, Jekkle and Hyde, Sinerman at The Alchemist, and The Living Room. Guests can expect innovative menus, cultural fusion drinks, and bartenders pushing the creative boundaries of cocktail craft.

This vibrant movement is part of a broader, global initiative led by the founders of Global Bartenders Week, Mr. Michel and Hanna, who launched the concept to elevate bartending as an art form, while creating a collaborative global network. Their support and presence in Kenya adds international credibility and visibility, linking Kenya’s talent to the global bartending stage. Kenya Bartender Week is proudly local, regional, and international, capturing the spirit of hospitality innovation and community building.

Key partners and sponsors of this landmark event include Kenya Tourism Board, Magical Kenya, Spring Valley Coffee, Clique, Aquamist, and Trademark Hotel, all united by a shared vision to uplift Kenya’s food and beverage sector and spotlight it as a destination for both leisure and lifestyle tourism. Their support underscores the economic and cultural potential of elevating the country’s bar and mixology scene to international standards. The main Bartender Cocktail Festival is set to happen on 6th September 2025 at Tribe Hotel, Village Market.
