KARIBU–KILIFAIR 2026 Builds Bridges Across East Africa

The Business, Culture & Opportunity Behind KARIBU–KILIFAIR 2026

From 4th to 7th June 2026, Arusha, Tanzania, transformed into a vibrant crossroads for the global travel industry as KARIBU–KILIFAIR 2026 welcomed tourism boards, destination management companies, tour operators, airlines, hotels, travel media, hosted buyers, investors and tourism decision-makers from across East Africa and international markets. Over four action-packed days, the exhibition went beyond traditional destination showcasing to become a dynamic tourism deal-making and networking hub, creating opportunities for businesses to forge connections, exchange market intelligence, promote destinations and explore new investment possibilities. The event highlighted East Africa’s growing influence as an interconnected, diverse and increasingly competitive tourism region.

The opening day on 4th June kicked off with a strong B2B focus, placing business appointments and media interaction at the centre of the programme. Exhibitors and hosted buyers participated in scheduled meetings designed to encourage focused conversations around products, destinations, emerging markets and potential collaborations. The day’s commercial momentum flowed into the Buyers Welcome Reception and Briefing at Gran Meliá Arusha, where international buyers and industry professionals continued networking in a more informal atmosphere. It was a valuable relationship-building runway, giving participants the opportunity to establish rapport, exchange ideas and prepare for the full programme ahead.

On 5th June, the spotlight shifted firmly to Tanzania with Tanzania Day, offering delegates an immersive showcase of the country’s extraordinary tourism assets, cultural heritage and renowned hospitality. The official opening welcomed distinguished personalities including Hon. Dr. Thereza Mugobi, Hon. MP Paul Makonda, Hon. CPA Amos Gabriel Makalla and Dr. Willy Chambulo, alongside KILIFAIR Directors Tom Kunkler and Dominic Shoo, who officially opened the exhibition. The event space came alive with Maasai cultural performances, Afro-fusion music, acrobatics, artistic presentations and destination showcases, creating a colourful celebration of Tanzania’s tourism identity. The day concluded with the Official Welcome Cocktail at Fun Retreat Resort, providing yet another opportunity for industry players to connect, celebrate and explore new possibilities.

The momentum carried into 6th June with Uganda Day, putting regional tourism integration, destination development and cross-border collaboration at the forefront. The B2B Business Lounge remained a buzzing deal-making arena, with exhibitors and buyers engaging in targeted discussions designed to generate leads, strengthen partnerships and uncover new commercial opportunities. Uganda complemented its business showcase with vibrant cultural performances, artistic displays and destination presentations, introducing delegates to the country’s diverse attractions and travel experiences. As evening arrived, the atmosphere shifted into celebration during Sounds of Kili Music Night, where music and entertainment brought tourism professionals together in a relaxed setting and celebrated the cultural energy of East Africa.

The final day, 7th June, belonged to Zanzibar Day, shining a spotlight on the island’s spectacular beaches, rich Swahili heritage, historic Stone Town and sophisticated hospitality offering. Destination presentations, cultural showcases and interactive experiences offered delegates a taste of Zanzibar’s distinctive combination of relaxation, heritage, adventure and island charm. Throughout the exhibition, Go Places Media strengthened the event’s visibility through professional photography, exclusive interviews, editorial coverage, multimedia storytelling and real-time reporting, capturing the people, business conversations, cultural highlights and partnerships that gave KARIBU–KILIFAIR its unique character.

As the final sessions concluded, KARIBU–KILIFAIR 2026 left behind more than memorable moments—it created a trail of business leads, strategic connections, fresh ideas and cross-border opportunities. The exhibition reinforced the importance of regional collaboration in positioning East Africa as a compelling destination for global travellers and investment. The tourism conversation now moves towards the next edition, scheduled for 27th–30th May 2027 at Magereza Grounds, Arusha, Tanzania, where the region’s travel community will once again converge to showcase destinations, connect markets, exchange ideas and transform promising conversations into powerful partnerships.
