Rendani Khorombi To Lead Tourism Strategic Services With Vision, Innovation, And Impact
The Johannesburg Tourism Company (JTC) has ushered in a new era of leadership and innovation with the appointment of Rendani Khorombi as the Executive Head: Tourism Strategic Services, effective 1 October 2025.
A seasoned tourism expert with over 17 years of experience, Khorombi’s appointment marks a pivotal step in strengthening Joburg’s position as Africa’s most dynamic and globally competitive tourism destination. Having risen through the ranks at JTC, his deep understanding of the city’s tourism ecosystem and his strategic leadership in business events (MICE), visitor services, and destination development have consistently driven Joburg’s tourism excellence.
“Rendani’s appointment marks a significant milestone in our journey to elevate Johannesburg as a globally competitive destination,” said Thandubuhle Mgudlwa, CEO of Johannesburg Tourism. “His expertise, foresight, and passion for excellence will help propel our strategic services to even greater heights.”
Khorombi, who holds a BA in Tourism Development from the University of Johannesburg, also completed executive leadership programmes at both Wits University and the University of Cape Town. His academic grounding, coupled with his on-the-ground leadership, has positioned him as a key architect of Joburg’s tourism transformation.
Expressing his excitement for the new chapter, Khorombi shared,
