Ekaa’s co-founder, Sagar Neve, a restaurateur with over a decade of experience and Niyati Rao, Head Chef and Partner have come together to introduce the city’s first restaurant with an interpreted cuisine.
The influence comes from the diversity which in turn highlights the ingredients, people and cultures that together, create something entirely new with their interpretation brought under one roof.
The restaurant and bar use seasons, ingredients, cultures and even different chefs and their journeys for inspiration. Every element tells a different story.
Being the city’s first, the focus of Ekaa is to hero an ingredient in the most unique way possible. This refers to showcasing the essence of all ingredients across India and the world, thereby creating a newly interpreted dining experience.
Hero Bar was ranked 68 in this year’s The World’s 50 Best Bars extension list, two places up from number 70 last year.
The Bar prides itself on its fun approach to cocktails and service, with a talented and driven team that continues to push the boundaries in the culinary industry.
These include winners of the Diageo World Class Bartenders competition in Kenya two years consecutively – Kelvin Thairu in 2021 and Francis Ndung’u in 2022 who recently returned from Sydney having come in at number 37 globally, no small feat given the steep global talent that takes part each year.

“A mixologist using his wand of innovation and creativity is rising in India. Jishnu AJ born in Kerala (known as God’s country) has been living his dream ever since he choose to be his real self. He had studied Hotel Management in Kerala, but his growing hunger for creating something of his own was increasing every day. Jishnu has worked with some of the top international properties like Marriott, Grand Hyatt and Four Seasons.
He later went on to join a property KOKO in Mumbai which he says was “a life-changing decision I had made for my career”
Trained under Dimi Lezinska who is a brand partner and global brand advocacy for Third Eye distillery. Jishnu has participated in many global competitions like Bacardi Legacy, World Class, The Botanist, Top 22 Bartenders from India and many more.

Jishnu has created the whole bar and concept menu for Ekaa. The cocktail menu is inspired by Seven ecosystems like tropical deciduous forests, freshwater tundra and more. He says,” we have a cocktail named Petrichor which is inspired by the aroma of the wet soil from the first shower and another cocktail named Nothing Fishy inspired by the non-veg dried shrimp from Maharashtra.”
