Shaping Africa’s Event Future, Africa MICE Summit 2025 In Review
The Africa MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Summit 2025 took place from the 9th to 11th of September at the iconic Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya. The event brought together leading professionals and stakeholders from across the MICE industry to network, exchange ideas, and forge lasting collaborations. This year’s summit was graced by the esteemed Mr. John Lekakeny Ololtuaa, Principal Secretary of the State Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, Culture & Heritage, who served as the keynote guest of honour. His presence underscored the government’s continued commitment to promoting Kenya as a premier destination for business tourism.

Over the three days, delegates had the opportunity to engage in a series of dynamic panel discussions that addressed vital topics impacting the growth and sustainability of the MICE industry in Africa. From policy frameworks and destination marketing to innovations in technology and sustainability, the sessions offered invaluable insights and practical solutions. The discussions served as a rich platform for sharing knowledge and fostering partnerships among governments, private sector players, and development partners.

One of the standout moments of the summit was the participation of our Group Managing Director, Nev Jiwani, who was honoured to be part of the panel discussing the role of technology in enhancing the MICE experience alongside Havar Bauck (Co-Founder, HotelOnline , Alexander Popov (CEO & Founder, iactive.pro, Doris Mugambi (Lecturer, Utalii College), Joanne Ndirangu (Business Development Manager, Shukran) and moderated by Francis Njue – CEO, Willing Host App . The session delved into the latest technological trends transforming the industry, including digital registration, virtual conferencing, data analytics, and AI-driven engagement tools. Mrs. Jiwani shared thought-provoking perspectives on integrating smart solutions to elevate event planning and attendee experience. It was an insightful exchange that highlighted how digital transformation is shaping the future of events in Africa.

The exhibition area was a vibrant hub of activity, showcasing an impressive lineup of exhibitors who demonstrated the depth and diversity of Kenya’s tourism and hospitality offerings. Participating brands included Sawela Lodges, Tamarind Group, Accor Hotels, Kenya Tourism Board, Bomas of Kenya, Kenya Wildlife Service, and the Museum of Illusions, among many others. Their interactive booths and product showcases allowed attendees to experience firsthand the richness of Kenyan hospitality and the potential for partnerships in leisure and business travel.
