Historic Touchdown, TAAG Angola Launches Nairobi Flights With Diplomatic Flair

TAAG Angola Airlines Launches Inaugural Luanda–Nairobi Flight In Landmark Regional Expansion

In a significant step toward deepening regional air connectivity and enhancing Africa’s intra-continental travel experience, TAAG Angola Airlines officially launched its inaugural direct flight from Luanda to Nairobi on Monday, September 1, 2025. This new route not only connects Angola to Kenya via a seamless travel experience, but it also positions both nations as key players in pan-African aviation growth and economic collaboration.

The welcome event, held at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Terminal 2, brought together dignitaries, aviation leaders, and government officials. Among the esteemed guests were Ms. Teresia Mbaika, Principal Secretary for Aviation and Aerospace Development, high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

His Excellency Ambassador Virgilio Marques de Faria (Angolan Ambassador to Kenya), and Her Excellency Joyce M’Maitsi, Ambassador of Kenya to Angola. Their presence underscored the strategic and diplomatic importance of this new connection.

The morning’s highlight was the arrival of the first TAAG aircraft from Luanda, greeted with a water salute and a vibrant cultural showcase by Kenyan traditional dancers. First passengers and Angolan dignitaries aboard the flight were warmly welcomed in a celebratory atmosphere that symbolized the shared heritage and economic potential between the two nations. The route will now operate regularly, offering greater accessibility for both business and leisure travelers between Southern and East Africa.

According to TAAG Angola Airlines, this new route is a pivotal part of their Strategic Plan 2024–2029, focusing on strengthening regional ties and enhancing their presence in key African markets. With Nairobi being a major hub for commerce, tourism, and aviation, the new connection opens the door for more robust trade, tourism exchanges, and cross-border investments.

Go Places Media was proud to provide exclusive coverage of this momentous occasion, capturing the key moments, behind-the-scenes interactions, and interviews with airline executives and government officials. Our team highlighted the cultural warmth, hospitality, and the broader economic narrative driving this expansion—delivering compelling stories to our travel, tourism, and investment-focused audience across Africa and beyond.

This inaugural flight is more than just a route—it’s a bridge between two dynamic regions, marking a new era of collaboration, connectivity, and opportunity. With TAAG Angola Airlines charting a bold new course, travelers and investors alike can look forward to a more connected African future.
