In a world of rapidly changing technology, many industries have been disrupted with new services that make it easier for customers to shop from home. Online opportunities allow them to receive better service, quality and convenience, all at great prices, and MyPrints started with the mission to bring these benefits to custom print products in Kenya. In 2020, during the peak of COVID, we conducted extensive research on the personalised gifting and printing industry, discovering that Africa currently accounts for about 1% of global revenue. Diving deeper, we found that many Kenyans would love to have such products available, but often get them while travelling abroad, if at all. So we set out to make it easier to access these services locally, developing an online platform that rivals the best international options at a lower price point, with the absolute highest quality standards.

Our first step was to actually create the platform, which allows users to design amazing custom art without any prior experience. Dead simple to use, we even tested it with focus groups of youngsters 12 and under, and life-experienced people 60 and over. Our platform is intuitive, and gives you a multitude of ways to customise your end product.

Next, we worked to make sure that we were giving our customers the same amazing variety they might find with international competitors. Our first products were custom photobooks and canvas prints, both available in several options. You can choose from three different photobook binding styles, multiple sizes, and even select different cover and paper types – all starting from KSh. 1,750. Our Canvas Prints come as single canvases, with just one photo on one canvas; as collages, with multiple images on one canvas; or as combos, with either one image split among several canvases, or several canvases with multiple photos.
