Lantern, Legends And Laughter, A Thailand’s Day To Shine
On November 30th, 2024, from 5 pm – past 7 pm the Trademark Hotel Ballroom 1-3 hosted a magnificent celebration of Thailand’s National Day, bringing together a distinguished group of dignitaries, celebrities, and Thai culture enthusiasts. The event commemorated the birthday anniversary of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the 72nd birthday of King Rama Xs, in addition to honoring Thai Father’s Day.
The guest of honor for the evening was Her Excellency Ambassador Morokot, the Ambassador of Thailand to Kenya, who graciously led the celebrations honored Thai altar. Among the notable guests in attendance was His Excellency Hon. Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh, the Principal Secretary of Agriculture. The gathering was graced by ambassadors from various countries, government officials, business leaders, celebrities, and influencers.
Among the distinguished attendees was Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Akothee, founder of the Akothee Foundation, who added a touch of glamour to the event. The culinary world was also well represented, with the popular roaming chef, Dennis Ombachi, adding a touch of local flavor to the celebration. Exhibits from various private sector companies, such as KQ Airways, Aryuv Industries, and Star Company (S T I), provided guests with a unique opportunity to learn more about Thai business ventures in Kenya.
Guests were treated to a captivating cultural display, with live performances from the Muay Thai Academy and traditional Thai dancers, Mr. Chatree Thongchalam and Ms. Waridsara Khoonkuntod, from the Tee Sud Show Group in Thailand. The event’s entertainment was masterfully handled by the talented MCs, Mr. Theerawee and Ms. Oyesa, who kept the crowd engaged and the mood lively throughout the evening.
The evening also featured a thrilling raffle draw, with exciting prizes up for grabs, ensuring that all guests had something to look forward to. Of course, no celebration would be complete without food, and the event did not disappoint. Attendees were treated to a delightful array of Thai dishes, courtesy of the Royal Thai Cuisine team led by Assistant Professors Dr. Chayanite Prampate and Rungthiwa Wongpaisanrit, with assistance from the Dusit Thani Hotel residences and Kenya Utalii College’s culinary arts group.
The rich flavors of Thai cuisine were showcased through a diverse menu that included Kratong Thong Meekrob, Ma Haw, Latiang, Choir Muang, Thung Thong, Tao Hu Tod, Phlanuea, Tom Yum Hed, Panang Kai, Khao Pad Supparod, Kuay Twei Phad Thai, and many more. Guests savored every bite of the dishes, from the fragrant Thai rice to the perfectly pan-seared snapper and roasted vegetables. For those with a sweet tooth, there were delicious desserts, including a variety of cakes, Thai bread, and fresh fruits.
In addition to the incredible food, the event provided an excellent opportunity to network, with guests from various sectors connecting and engaging in vibrant conversations. The evening was a perfect blend of Thai cultural celebration and international camaraderie, showcasing the strength of the diplomatic relationship between Thailand and Kenya.
