Go Places Magical Kenya Experience – Diani Beach, Mombasa Fam Trip Day 2

Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE 2022) Fam Trip Day 2 – Diani Beach, Mombasa

Go Places was the media team that was invited on a 5 days / 4 nights fam trip to experience our Magical Kenya and #RediscoverThe Magic campaign during the Magical Kenya Travel Expo 2022 held from 5th to 7th Oct. The fam trip was a pre-event trip to experience both the Safari and Beach destinations. Others in the group included first-time media from Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia and India

Day 2  – 1st October started in the Aberdare National Park at the Ark with a hearty breakfast and drive through the highlands of Kenya to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport for an onward flight to Diani Beach with Safarilink

Here’s a Go Places experience with Safarilink, a light snack at the passenger lounge before boarding our flight to Ukunda Airstrip.

This is where we would spend our remaining 3 nights. What a treat! The First Impression: It felt like entering an Arabian palace with a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The ambience combined both Arabian architecture and Swahili finishes with Zanzibari influences. As you walk through the corridors with long arches the sound of water draws you closer to the open area where you see the large gazebo surrounded by cascades of swimming pools streaming all the way down closer to the beach. The Dining Experience: During our stay, we had the option to dine at any of their restaurants which included:
  • Zanzibar is a pan-Asian restaurant offering an a la carte menu with a wide variety of seafood as well as a Teppanyaki table dining experience which is popular with guests that are having a special occasion.
  • Spice Route Restaurant offers North Indian cuisine with a fusion of local ingredients. Amazing tastes cooked in a tandoori oven.
  • Majilis Restaurant is the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The weekly evening dining experience is themed with different cuisine from across the globe. The cuisine is widespread with salads, soups, mains and desserts as well as live cooking stations.
  • Barharini Beach Bar & Restaurant offers continental cuisines for a special dining experience close to the beach. Sundays, you can relax and enjoy live jazz music while enjoying signature cocktails and amazing freshly prepared grills
  • Kahawa Lounge is a place full of aroma from freshly roasted coffee beans, heaven for coffee lovers.
The Accommodation Experience: Once again the rooms exude Arabian architecture with a Swahili finish. Many of the features are finished with limestone and whitewash paint. The sunken bathrooms and finishes a signature of Swahili Beach Resort & Spa. Watch out for this space for Day 3 as we  continued our Magical stay at Swahili Beach Resort & Spa and visit the nearby village for a cultural bicycle, Shimoni & Wasini with Pilipipa to snorkel and swim with dolphins and a seafood experience.
