From Vineyards To Nairobi, Gambero Rosso Unveils A Taste Of Italy’s Finest

Nairobi, Kenya – On January 30th, 2024, Gambero Rosso, Italy’s eminent Wine & Food Media Company, left an indelible mark on Nairobi, Kenya, with its highly anticipated Top Italian Wine Roadshow. Held at the picturesque Shamba Events, Loresho Ridge, this invite-only event was a celebration of Italian culinary excellence, organized in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and with the support of the Italian Trade Commission.

Against the backdrop of a red farmhouse nestled amidst organic coffee bushes, guests experienced the famed “Saper Vivere Italiano,” embodying the Italians’ attitude towards hospitality and sharing beautiful and good things.

The interactive walk-around wine tasting featured 35 top wineries from across Italy, representing fifteen wine regions. Approximately 150 premium awarded wines, ranging from White and Red to Rose and Sparkling, offered a flavorful journey through Italy’s diverse terroirs.

During the opening ceremony, Gambero Rosso honored Nairobi’s best Italian restaurants, as per their esteemed guide. Two Masterclasses, led by Marco Sabellico, senior editor of the Vini d’Italia guidebook, and Victoria Mulu-Munywoki, Kenya’s renowned wine expert, provided an immersive knowledge-sharing experience.

The highlight of the evening was the awards ceremony, where the crème de la crème of Italian cuisine in Kenya, including restaurants, pizzerias, and wineshops, were celebrated. Winning venues earned a coveted spot in Gambero Rosso’s Global Top Italian Restaurants guide.

As Gambero Rosso celebrates 37 years of promoting Italy’s culinary treasures globally, the Nairobi event marked a memorable chapter in its international journey. The company’s commitment to authentic products, showcased through events like the Top Italian Wine Roadshow, continues to captivate audiences worldwide, fostering a shared love for Italian food and wine.
