Take The Wheel, Follow Your Instincts, And Make Every Safari Moment Uniquely Yours

Perhaps one of the most underrated experiences in the contemporary Kenyan tourism experience is solo driving. The ability and capacity to enjoy your own company as you soak in the wonders of celebrated tourist attractions remains unmatched, even as we hoard towards planned shared tours. Solo drives often hand us a unique experience, as it allows visitors to get a raw and unfiltered interaction with their environment.

Solo drives involve having your own means of transportation and interacting with the attraction at your own pace. The driver and passengers prepare for a non-curated journey where they are often unaware of what to expect and have to contend with whatever occurrences they encounter.

The unpredictability is often a core aspect of the process as it adds to the thrill. Costs often range from $90 to $100 for foreigners and Kes 300-500 for entry for vehicles. Locals pay KES 1500/-. High seasons are between July to February, with many self-drive visitors often likely to frequent the park during this time. Persons seeking a lonelier experience may visit Amboseli between March and June, with fees likely to be lower.

The Amboseli is a particularly sought-after destination for solo drives. The vast expanse provides an ideal environment for endless holidaymaking possibilities. The thrill-seekers are free to tour permitted sections in the comfort of their car without the fluster of rushed sessions synonymous with group tours.

The 392 square-kilometer park treats the visitor to an up-close experience with all that the savanna has to offer including all of the big five. The Amboseli is traversed by a network of well-graded gravel all-weather roads that gift the tourist with a smooth but dusty safari delight. A key consideration one must make is that entry is only permitted for persons with booked accommodation inside or outside the park.
