Adventure Meets Conservation, Highlights From The Iconic Forest Challenge 2025
On November 29th, 2025, the lush Kereita Forest in Aberdare, Kiambu County, hosted the much-anticipated 10th edition of The Forest Challenge. Bringing together conservationists, corporate supporters, and nature lovers, the event offered a full day of adventure, learning, and celebration. From the early morning arrivals to the evening’s closing, participants experienced a unique blend of outdoor challenges, ecological education, and cultural engagement amid the stunning greenery of Kenya’s forests.

The day began with lively performances by Gim Events and dynamic warm-ups led by Bramwel Wangila, setting an energetic tone for the activities ahead. The National Anthem evoked pride and unity, followed by prayers from Reverend Julius Njoroge. Opening remarks from Mr. Benjamin Mundi and Ms. Nancy Ogonje motivated participants, while Mr. Jabes Okumu briefed teams on the day’s objectives. The ceremonial flag-off, led by a representative of the Chief Conservator of Forests, Mr. Alex Lemarkoko, marked the official start of a day dedicated to teamwork, adventure, and environmental stewardship.

The main attraction—the Forest Challenge itself—tested participants’ stamina, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills. Teams navigated diverse terrains, pausing for a ceremonial tree-planting led by Mr. Mundi, emphasizing the event’s conservation mission. Judges John Nyaga (EAWLS), Dr. George Njagi (WCK), and Joseph Macharia (KFS) evaluated team performance, while continuous entertainment, awards, and certificate presentations kept energy levels high throughout the day.

In the afternoon, thought-provoking speeches by Mr. Nelson Muiru (KENVO), Ms. Nancy Ogonje (EAWLS), Mr. Kibet Boen (County Commissioner, Kiambu), Hon. David Kuria (CEC, Water, Environment & Natural Resources), and a representative of Mr. Alex Lemarkoko underscored the importance of sustainable practices, community participation, and joint efforts in preserving Kenya’s forests for future generations.

The 2025 edition of The Forest Challenge was made possible thanks to the generous support of environmentally-focused sponsors, including Safarilink, Madison Group, Kevian, Entumoto, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), PKF, Intrepid, Tradewinds, Hivos People’s Unlimited, RSA, RUPA’s, and others. Their backing highlighted the vital role of public-private partnerships in creating meaningful ecological impact and ensuring long-term conservation.

Go Places provided comprehensive live coverage, capturing the intensity, excitement, and joy of the day—from the outdoor challenges to the ceremonial tree planting. As participants returned to Nairobi, the resounding message was clear: Kenya’s forests are priceless treasures, and united action today secures their preservation and prosperity for generations to come.
