Adventure, Conservation & Culture, Inside Kenya’s Forest Challenge 2025
On November 29th, 2025, the lush expanse of Kereita Forest provided a spectacular setting for the 10th edition of The Forest Challenge, a landmark event that blended outdoor adventure with environmental advocacy. Nestled within the Aberdare ecosystem in Kiambu County, the forest welcomed environmental champions, corporate teams, and outdoor enthusiasts for a full day dedicated to sustainability, teamwork, and cultural expression in one of Kenya’s most treasured natural landscapes.

The event kicked off on a high note with lively cultural performances by Gim Events, followed by dynamic warm-up sessions led by Bramwel Wangila, energizing participants for the challenges ahead. The singing of the National Anthem fostered a strong sense of unity, while prayers led by Julius Njoroge set a reflective tone. Opening remarks from Benjamin Mundi and Nancy Ogonje motivated attendees, before Jabes Okumu outlined the day’s program. The official flag-off, conducted by Alex Lemarkoko, marked the start of an inspiring journey into the forest.

As the challenge unfolded, teams navigated a series of demanding forest trails that tested stamina, cooperation, and strategic thinking. One of the most meaningful moments was a symbolic tree-planting session led by Mr. Mundi, reinforcing the critical role forests play in climate resilience and biodiversity conservation. Participants were assessed by a panel of experienced judges including John Nyaga, George Njagi, and Joseph Macharia, while live entertainment, award presentations, and certificates kept spirits high throughout the day.

The afternoon segment featured thought-provoking addresses focused on sustainable forest management and the power of community participation. Speakers such as Ms. Nancy Ogonje, Nelson Muiru, Kibet Boen, and David Kuria, alongside representatives from the Office of the Chief Conservator of Forests, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in protecting Kenya’s natural heritage for future generations.

The success of the Forest Challenge 2025 was driven by strong partnerships with environmentally conscious organizations including Safarilink, Madison Group, Kevian, Kenya Wildlife Service, Intrepid, and Hivos People Unlimited. Their collaboration highlighted the powerful impact of public–private partnerships in advancing conservation goals.

Throughout the day, Go Places Media was present, documenting every highlight—from high-energy trail challenges to heartfelt tree-planting moments and the camaraderie shared among participants. As the sun set over Kereita Forest, one message stood clear: Kenya’s forests are invaluable, and only through united, deliberate action can they be protected and sustained for generations to come.
