Pour Some Personality, The Whiskey Sour Is Your Next Classic Cocktail Fix
Few cocktails balance richness and refreshment quite as elegantly as the Whiskey Sour. A celebrated classic in the world of mixology, this cocktail brings together the warmth of whiskey, the brightness of fresh lemon juice and the gentle sweetness of simple syrup to create a beautifully balanced serve. Its appeal lies in its simplicity: every ingredient has a role, from the spirit-forward foundation to the citrusy lift and smooth sweetness that rounds out the finish. Served chilled and beautifully garnished, the Whiskey Sour is equally at home at an elegant dinner, a sophisticated social gathering or a relaxed evening when you want something with character.

Ingredients
For one serving, you will need 60 ml bourbon or whiskey, 30 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice, 20 ml simple syrup, plenty of ice and a few drops of Angostura bitters for garnish. You can also use 15–20 ml egg white if you prefer the classic silky texture and characteristic foamy top associated with many traditional Whiskey Sours.Bourbon brings warm notes of caramel, vanilla and oak, while fresh lemon provides the sharp citrus counterpoint that keeps the drink lively. Simple syrup then ties the two together with a measured touch of sweetness.
Instructions
Begin by adding the 60 ml whiskey, 30 ml fresh lemon juice and 20 ml simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. If using egg white, add it at this stage and shake vigorously without ice first—known as a dry shake—to help create a smooth, stable foam. Add plenty of ice and shake again until the shaker becomes thoroughly chilled. Strain the cocktail into a chilled rocks glass over fresh ice, or serve it straight up in a coupe glass for a more refined presentation. Add a few drops of Angostura bitters across the foam if using egg white. The result is a beautifully layered cocktail delivering whiskey warmth, vibrant citrus acidity and balanced sweetness, with a silky finish that makes the Whiskey Sour a timeless addition to any cocktail repertoire.
