Etihad Airways Doubles Down On Kenya With Daily Flights To Abu Dhabi

Enjoy Seamless Connections From Nairobi To London, Paris, Mumbai, And Beyond With Etihad’s Expanded Service

Etihad Airways has reaffirmed its strong commitment to the Kenyan market with a significant increase in flights between Abu Dhabi and Nairobi, responding to soaring demand just months after the route’s successful launch in December 2024.

Starting October 2025, Etihad will grow its services from the current four weekly flights to eight, before introducing a full double-daily schedule from 15 December 2025, a move that will see capacity more than triple within the year. This milestone expansion underscores Kenya’s importance as one of Africa’s most dynamic aviation markets.

Unlocking Seamless Global Connections

The upgraded schedule will add 1,600 extra weekly seats, bringing Etihad’s total capacity on the route to more than 2,200 seats each week. This increased frequency will allow greater flexibility and connectivity, linking Kenyan travellers seamlessly to Etihad’s global network of over 80 destinations.

Passengers flying from Nairobi will enjoy enhanced access to popular international hubs including London, Paris, Mumbai, and several other key cities across Europe and the Indian subcontinent. Meanwhile, travellers from the UAE will gain even easier access to Kenya’s iconic wildlife safaris, lush highlands, and pristine coastal getaways.

A Strategic African Growth Story

Etihad’s Nairobi expansion is part of a wider African growth strategy. The airline has recently launched services to Addis Ababa in partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, increased frequencies to Casablanca and Johannesburg, and strengthened its regional network through a partnership with Air Seychelles.

“Africa represents incredible opportunity for aviation growth,” said Javier Alija, Etihad’s Vice President of Global Sales & Distribution. “The strong demand we’ve seen in Kenya validates our decision to grow this route to a double-daily service. We’re excited to provide our guests with more choice, better connectivity, and a gateway that connects Africa, the Middle East, and beyond.”

Why This Matters

For business travellers, this expansion means greater convenience, flexibility, and access to key global trade hubs. For leisure travellers, it opens doors to new adventures, from Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes to the UAE’s luxury, shopping, and cultural offerings.

Etihad Airways’ rapid growth in Kenya is more than just an increase in flights, it’s a testament to the airline’s confidence in the market and a reflection of Kenya’s growing role as a global travel and investment hub.
