After 20 years Ethiopian Airlines AirPlane Lands in Asmara

Ethiopian Airlines was very pleased to land in Asmara, neighbouring Eritrea, led by H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. While they celebrated this beautiful day in history, the airline wished the best of sustainable peace, friendship and prosperity to both the Eritrean and Ethiopian peoples. They are looking forward not only to connect Eritrea with Ethiopia but also to connect Eritrea with more than 114 international destinations in 5 continents with modern airplanes.

The flight carried More than 450 passengers and among the passengers onboard was Former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn. Flight attendants handed out roses and served champagne to passengers in all classes during the flight.

This is the first commercial flight from Ethiopia to Eritrea in 20 years.The flight landed safely in Asmara on Wednesday and was welcomed by dancers waving flags and flowers, cementing a stunning fellowship that has ended a generation of hostility in a matter of days. Relatives and friends met for the first time since a 1998-2000.
