East Africa Textile And Leather Week [EATLW] 2023 Opens With A Grand Ceremony

The highly anticipated East Africa Textile and Leather Week [EATLW] 2023 was reported to have opened with a grand ceremony at Arabuko Hall, Sarit Expo Center. The three-day conference and exhibition, scheduled from June 28th to 30th, were said to bring together industry stakeholders and thought leaders from around the globe to explore the immense potential of East Africa’s garment manufacturing sector.

According to Skander Negasi, the Organizer & CEO of Trade and Fairs GmbH, EATLW 2023 was described as a transformative event that aimed to propel the East African textile and leather industry to new heights. The organizers expressed their excitement in bringing together industry stakeholders and thought leaders to foster collaborations and shape the future of the region’s fashion landscape. The focus of EATLW was said to be on sustainability, innovation, and craftsmanship.

The event, as reported, featured 150 exhibitors from East Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, along with 3,500 wholesalers, retailers, chains, manufacturers, and dealers from East and Central Africa. Attendees were expected to engage in meaningful discussions, explore business opportunities, and gain insights into sustainability, innovation, and craftsmanship.

Mr. Thomas Wimmer, Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kenya, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing the celebration of the vibrant fashion, textile, and leather industry of the region. He highlighted the opportunity for participants to have a better view of the East Africa textile landscape and establish business relations.

The opening ceremony was graced by Dr. Juma Mukhwana, the Chief Guest and PS for Industry, representing the Government of Kenya. Dr. Mukhwana emphasized the government’s commitment to developing the textile and leather value chains, recognizing their significance in driving national prosperity.
