Conquering Nature, Unforgettable Moments From The Forest Challenge 2025

A Greener Tomorrow, The Excitement & Impact Of Forest Challenge 2025

On 29th November 2025, the 10th edition of The Forest Challenge unfolded spectacularly in Kereita Forest, Aberdare, Kiambu County, bringing together conservationists, corporate champions, and eco-enthusiasts for a day of action, awareness, and celebration. From early morning arrivals to the evening farewells, participants immersed themselves in an unforgettable experience combining physical adventure, environmental education, and cultural expression, all set against the lush backdrop of Kenya’s forests.

The event, organized collaboratively by KENVO, East African Wildlife Society (EAWLS), Kenya Forest Service (KFS), and The Forest Challenge team, began with lively entertainment by Gim Events, energizing warm-ups led by Bramwel Wangila, and a stirring rendition of the National Anthem. Reverend Julius Njoroge offered prayers, followed by insightful opening remarks from Mr. Benjamin Mundi and Ms. Nancy Ogonje, while participants received essential briefing from Mr. Jabes Okumu. The ceremonial flag-off was conducted by a representative of the Chief Conservator of Forests, Mr. Alex Lemarkoko, signaling the start of a day dedicated to nature and teamwork.

The Forest Challenge itself was the highlight—a thrilling outdoor adventure testing endurance, teamwork, and strategic thinking while showcasing the beauty and fragility of Kenya’s forests. Teams navigated diverse terrains, stopping to plant trees as part of a ceremonial gesture led by Mr. Mundi, emphasizing the event’s conservation mission. Judges John Nyaga (EAWLS), Dr. George Njagi (WCK), and Joseph Macharia (KFS) evaluated participants, while vibrant entertainment and certificate presentations kept spirits high throughout the day.

In the afternoon, thought-provoking speeches from key figures, including Mr. Nelson Muiru (KENVO), Ms. Nancy Ogonje (EAWLS), Mr. Kibet Boen (County Commissioner, Kiambu), Hon. David Kuria (CEC, Water, Environment & Natural Resources), and a representative of Mr. Alex Lemarkoko, highlighted the importance of sustainable practices, community engagement, and collaborative conservation efforts in safeguarding Kenya’s forests.

The Forest Challenge 2025 was made possible by generous sponsorship from organizations committed to ecological stewardship, including Safarilink, Madison Group, Kevian, Entumoto, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), PKF, Intrepid, Tradewinds, Hivos People’s Unlimited, RSA, and RUPA’s, among others. Their support underscored the critical role of public-private partnerships in driving meaningful environmental change and ensuring a lasting impact.

Go Places had the privilege of providing live media coverage, capturing every inspiring moment, from the intensity of the challenge to the joy of participants and the ceremonial tree planting. As the day concluded and delegates returned to Nairobi, one message rang clear: Kenya’s forests are priceless treasures, and collective action today guarantees their survival and prosperity for future generations.
