THE BEACH CLUB
Residents of Vipingo Ridge enjoy exclusive access to an authentic beach club. It is a short 10-minute drive from the main gate and located on Kuruwitu beach, indisputably one of Kenya’s most beautiful and secluded beaches. The popular rustic ‘makuti’ bar and restaurant has its tables nestled under shady trees on the beach and provides an excellent culinary experience, specialising in locally sourced and fresh sustainable seafood dishes.
THE SUNDOWNER
The Sundowner is conveniently located between the tennis courts and the 25m swimming pool – a short walk from the driving range. This is the perfect place to enjoy a poolside pizza, fresh from the wood oven, or a refreshing ‘sundowner’ as the sun slowly dips behind the Chodari hills. Here you can watch your favourite sporting event on large flat-screen TVs and it is a popular place for our younger residents to hang out with friends and enjoy a game of pool, table tennis or darts.
THE CLUBHOUSE
The Clubhouse enjoys views of the Indian Ocean to the east and spectacular sunsets over the Chodari hills to the west. Stargaze on the roof-top terrace or dine in style in the panoramic restaurant. The Pro-Shop is located inside the lobby and offers a wide array of golf accessories. The Clubhouse also hosts a coffee bar, fully equipped gym and changing rooms.
THE PGA BAOBAB COURSE
Africa’s only PGA-accredited championship golf course, the par 72 Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge has been ranked as Kenya’s number one golf course by Top 100 Golf Courses every year since 2015. Designed by David Jones, a former Kenya Open Champion, a ‘Master’ PGA Professional and a Director of the European Tour, the course is built to international standards, bringing an unparalleled dimension to golf in East Africa. Up high on the ridge, the Kaskazi and Kusi monsoon breezes combined with a meandering system of lakes and streams running through the championship-level 18 holes create a delightful challenge for every golfer.
Fast becoming a place of golfing legend, the Baobab Course is host to the Ladies European Tour and this unique destination is loved by all that play the game. Tee-off amid tropical climes, quiet fairways, a relaxed attitude and good friends.
THE PGA ACADEMY
GOLF SERVICES
The PGA Academy at Vipingo Ridge offers golf lessons and instruction for all ages and abilities with our resident PGA professional. Custom club fitting and technical swing analysis using the Foresight GCQuad Launch Monitor are also available at the newly built facility. The launch monitor uses four high-speed cameras to track the clubhead into impact and the ball’s initial launch conditions. With this data, the PGA professional can advise on the suitability of a player’s equipment and suggest any changes that could be of benefit to their performance.
Attached to the Academy is a complete club repair and assembly facility where any combination of shaft and head can be built from a stock of over 100 different demo iron shafts of varying materials, flexes, weights, and bend profiles, 50+ wood shafts and 30+ hybrid shafts to help golfers custom-make a set of clubs or tune their current set. All shafts are frequency matched before assembly using a frequency analyser and the Academy also has an MOI matching machine for those that would prefer their clubs assembled using this method.
A range of golf buggies is available to hire as well as a pool of expert caddies who know the course and the climate well. The Pro-shop offers both its members and visitors a range of products from golf apparel to new grips, tees, toiletries and refreshments.
The Baobab Course can be used for corporate days or bigger events and we welcome people of all abilities to play as well as enjoy the view of the Indian Ocean.
THE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Vipingo is now home to zebra, gazelle, impala, eland, oryx, and waterbuck as part of an exciting project to create a wildlife sanctuary on our 2,500-acre estate.
In collaboration with Kenya Wildlife Services, the introduction of wildlife to the site began in October 2020. With the next generation of animals being born within our walls in 2021, the vision of a thriving ecosystem, where Kenya’s wild herbivores add to the spectacle of the ridge, is fast becoming realised.
The wildlife is free to roam around and graze across the estate including the fairways of the championship PGA Baobab course offering players a unique golf safari experience on the coast. Watering holes, sundowner areas and picnic spots are available for game viewing and guests can also enjoy being among the animals on foot, horseback or bicycle.
KURUWITU BEACH
Kenya’s pristine beaches are the ideal place for some R&R and there is none so unspoiled and idyllic than Kuruwitu Beach, the home of Vipingo ’s Beach Club. Fringed by swaying palm trees on one side and warm waters on the other, this secluded stretch of beach is one of the best-kept secrets along the coast.
A Marine Protected Area, managed by the Kuruwitu Conservation and Welfare Association, an initiative supported by Vipingo, this is where you’ll find the country’s most richly populated coral gardens making for some of the best snorkelling in the world. There is a watersports centre where you can hire kayaks & stand-up paddleboards and book guided reef walks, scuba diving and deep-sea fishing.
The Beach Club is the perfect spot to chill out on a swing bed with a cool drink in hand, listen to the tunes from the bar, then join the daily, friendly, beach volleyball game. And with an impressive menu of deliciously fresh seafood being cooked before you, the Beach Club offers the perfect day out.

GETTING HERE
Vipingo is located on the Mombasa to Malindi highway, just 35km north of Mombasa. FlyALS’s twice daily direct service from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport into Vipingo’s own airstrip provides easy access from the capital. A helipad is located close to the Clubhouse and both Mombasa and Malindi airports are approximately 60-90 minutes by road.
Flights from Europe, America and the rest of Africa either land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, which is a short 15-minute drive to Wilson for a connecting flight to the Vipingo airstrip, to Moi International Airport in Mombasa or to Malindi Airport where we can arrange to collect our guests by air-conditioned van. Other options are to transit at JKIA to Mombasa or Malindi airports.
The new Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) has made travel from Nairobi even easier and more economical, particularly for those travelling with large families or in groups. Passengers can be collected from Mariakani station, which is only an hour’s drive from Vipingo Ridge.
