The event, held at the Skylight Hotel, brought together esteemed guests, high-ranking government officials, ambassadors, and remarkable women from Ethiopian Airlines.
Under the theme of Empowering Women: Connecting Africa, the celebration highlighted the invaluable contributions of women in the aviation sector. Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, expressed pride in the airline’s commitment to gender equality. He acknowledged the pivotal role played by female professionals within the organization, emphasizing that they are not just part of the airline but are actively shaping its legacy.
A significant moment during the celebration was the all-women-operated flight from Addis Ababa to London Heathrow. This groundbreaking flight was commanded by Captain Kalkidan Girma, a trailblazer in her own right. Her leadership exemplified Ethiopian Airlines’ dedication to promoting equal gender opportunity and diversity.
Zenebework G/Tsadik, Group VP of Human Capital Management, echoed this commitment. She emphasized the airline’s inclusive work environment, where women play pivotal roles across various areas of operation.
