Event Set To Boost Investment, Connectivity, And Tourism While Showcasing Kenya’s Unmatched Conference Capacity

Kenya’s reputation as Africa’s top MICE destination continues to soar, with Nairobi confirmed as host of the 10th Aviation Africa Summit in September 2026. The announcement, made during the 2025 edition in Kigali, marks a major milestone for the country’s aviation and tourism industries.

The summit will attract airlines, regulators, civil aviation authorities, government leaders, and industry experts, providing a platform to shape Africa’s aviation future. Speaking in Kigali, Principal Secretary for Aviation & Aerospace Development, Ms. Teresia Mbaika, said the event will showcase Kenya’s aviation reforms and tourism excellence.

“Aviation is the bridge that connects economies, drives trade, and showcases Africa’s beauty to the world. In hosting the 2026 Aviation Africa Summit, Kenya is committed to advancing bold reforms and unlocking the full potential of our skies,” she stated.

Kenya’s hosting credentials are strong. The country is making significant investments in aviation infrastructure, including the planned expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and upgrades to aerodromes across the country. Recently launched routes such as Luanda–Nairobi and Nairobi–London Gatwick further highlight Kenya’s growing global connectivity.

The summit also underscores the rapid rise of Kenya’s MICE sector. The 2024 Tourism Performance Report shows MICE accounted for 27% of tourist arrivals, while Nairobi was recently named Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination 2025 at the World Travel Awards.

Kenya Tourism Board CEO June Chepkemei welcomed the win, saying the summit will not only boost aviation growth but also give delegates the chance to experience Kenya’s world-class conference facilities and unmatched attractions.

With Africa’s air travel market projected by IATA to grow at 4.2% annually through 2043, hosting the Aviation Africa Summit positions Kenya at the center of this growth. As Nairobi prepares to welcome the world, Kenya is ready to prove that the future of African aviation takes off right here.
