Masai Mara is busiest from June to October with nature’s greatest show on earth. Setting the stage with the wildebeest migration from Tanzania to Kenya all for the quest of greener pastures. The wildebeest are closely followed by zebras in their thousands coming to the Maasai Mara from the Serengeti plains after the April and May rains. At this time of the year the predators are having a feast as they are sitting right at the top of the food chain‚ Talek River crossing. Watch that movie.
For the remainder of the year the park offers some of the world’s finest game viewing‚ with the large local populations of the Big5 (Lion‚Leopard‚ Buffalo‚ Elephant and Rhinocerous). Every season in the Mara is spectacular.
Arrive at Wilson airport ALS terminal‚ check in and onboard a 45 minute flight into theMasai Mara where on landing the airstrip your driver / guide will be waiting to receive you‚ enjoy game drive enroute to the lodge. Luggage is restricted at 15Kgs in soft bags per person including the hand luggage. A shawl‚ shuka‚sweatshirt‚ fleece or canvas jacket is advisable. June to September are winter months when temperatures can fluctuate between 25 to just 10 degrees celsius especially in early morning. Pack a sunscreen‚ a hat and sunglasses to keep out the dust. Suede safari boots or meshed sport shoes are useful‚ pack a pair of flip flops for hanging around the camp during the day. Don’t forget the zoom lens.
