Africa Rises Through Food Innovation, FoodBev’s 2025 Entrepreneurship Programme Shines In Nairobi

FoodBev & Global Partners Ignite Entrepreneurial Spirit At Nairobi Street Kitchen

On the vibrant evening of August 5th, 2025, Nairobi Street Kitchen came alive with inspiration, innovation, and international collaboration as it played host to the FoodBev International Entrepreneurship Development Programme. This remarkable event brought together forward-thinking entrepreneurs, policy leaders, industry experts, and creatives from across borders to ignite the future of food and beverage innovation. The eclectic and dynamic venue in the heart of Nairobi was the perfect backdrop for a day dedicated to empowering foodpreneurs and celebrating African excellence in business.

The day began with an engaging opening address by Programme Director Mr. Victor Litshani Duke, CE, who set the tone for the day by emphasizing the programme’s mission to cultivate entrepreneurial excellence across Africa through sustainable business development, mentorship, and access to global markets. He commended the participating entrepreneurs and partners for their commitment to driving innovation within the sector and acknowledged the spirit of collaboration that made this event possible.

A major highlight of the event was the compelling keynote address by His Excellency, the High Commissioner of South Africa, Mr. MJ Mahlanga, who underscored the importance of cross-border partnerships in unlocking Africa’s full potential. His address echoed a powerful message: that food is more than nourishment—it is culture, community, and commerce. His words inspired attendees to view entrepreneurship as a vehicle for both economic growth and cultural connection.

Also delivering a powerful keynote was FoodBev CEO, Ms. Nokuthula Selamolela, whose message focused on innovation, youth inclusion, and the transformation of food systems across Africa. She highlighted FoodBev’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs and called upon private and public sectors to work hand-in-hand in supporting scalable solutions. Her insights provided both strategic direction and motivational uplift for all in attendance.

Adding a local flavor to the event, Ms. Aliyana Popat, COO, and Mr. John Chege, Operations Manager of Nairobi Street Kitchen, shared a heartwarming address about the journey and vision behind the venue. They emphasized the importance of creating authentic spaces where food, art, and entrepreneurship collide, and where local talent can thrive. Their passion for transforming Nairobi Street Kitchen into a cultural and commercial hub was met with applause and admiration.

An entrepreneurial showcase by Ms. Manuela de Mendonça and Ms. Maktseng Mokome left attendees inspired by real-life examples of innovation in action. The day concluded with a curated tour of Nairobi Street Kitchen led by Mr. Peter Kuria, giving guests a behind-the-scenes look into the creativity and logistical excellence that powers this unique space.

The presence of the Managing Director of Go Places, Mrs Nev Jiwani was also notable, as Go Places Media provided top-tier coverage, capturing every impactful moment and ensuring the event’s story is shared far and wide. The FoodBev International Entrepreneurship Development Programme 2025 was more than just a gathering—it was a celebration of potential, purpose, and the power of food to unite and transform.
