Kenya’s Ultimate Eco-Adventure, Highlights From The Iconic Forest Challenge 2025
On November 29th, 2025, the verdant Kereita Forest in Aberdare, Kiambu County, came alive with the excitement of the 10th edition of The Forest Challenge. The event brought together environmental advocates, corporate champions, and nature enthusiasts for a full day of adventure, learning, and celebration. From early morning arrivals to the evening’s farewell, participants experienced an unforgettable mix of outdoor challenges, environmental education, and cultural experiences amid the breathtaking greenery of Kenya’s forests.

The day kicked off with lively performances by Gim Events and energizing warm-up sessions led by Bramwel Wangila, creating a spirited start. The National Anthem set a tone of unity, followed by prayers from Reverend Julius Njoroge. Opening remarks from Mr. Benjamin Mundi and Ms. Nancy Ogonje inspired participants, while Mr. Jabes Okumu briefed teams on the day’s objectives. The ceremonial flag-off, officiated by a representative of the Chief Conservator of Forests, Mr. Alex Lemarkoko, officially marked the beginning of a day devoted to teamwork, adventure, and environmental responsibility.

The heart of the day—the Forest Challenge itself—pushed participants’ endurance, problem-solving, and collaborative skills to the limit. Teams navigated diverse terrains, pausing for a symbolic tree-planting activity led by Mr. Mundi to highlight the importance of conservation. Judges John Nyaga (EAWLS), Dr. George Njagi (WCK), and Joseph Macharia (KFS) assessed performance, while live entertainment, award ceremonies, and certificate presentations kept spirits high and energy flowing throughout the event.

In the afternoon, impactful speeches from Mr. Nelson Muiru (KENVO), Ms. Nancy Ogonje (EAWLS), Mr. Kibet Boen (County Commissioner, Kiambu), Hon. David Kuria (CEC, Water, Environment & Natural Resources), and a representative of Mr. Alex Lemarkoko emphasized the crucial role of sustainable practices, community involvement, and joint initiatives in safeguarding Kenya’s forests for future generations.

The Forest Challenge 2025 was made possible through the support of environmentally-conscious sponsors, including Safarilink, Madison Group, Kevian, Entumoto, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), PKF, Intrepid, Tradewinds, Hivos People’s Unlimited, RSA, RUPA’s, and others. Their contributions underscored the power of public-private partnerships in driving tangible ecological impact and ensuring the long-term preservation of Kenya’s natural heritage.

Go Places delivered comprehensive live coverage of the event, capturing every moment—from the adrenaline-filled challenges to the joyous tree-planting ceremony. As participants returned home, one message resonated loud and clear: Kenya’s forests are invaluable treasures, and collective action today ensures their protection, sustainability, and continued prosperity for generations to come.
