Celebrating Camaraderie And Culinary Delights At The SKAL Luncheon

On Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, the picturesque setting of Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages played host to yet another memorable gathering – the SKAL International Nairobi May Luncheon. As guests streamed into the venue, the air buzzed with excitement and anticipation, setting the stage for an afternoon of mingling, networking, and culinary delights.

The event kicked off with a unique twist on tradition, as guests were invited to indulge in refreshing ‘Madafu’ cocktails, setting the tone for a convivial atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship. Amidst laughter and animated conversations, attendees seized the opportunity to forge new connections and strengthen existing bonds, embodying the spirit of SKAL.

This month’s luncheon was no ordinary affair – it was a brunch extravaganza like no other. From the tantalizing array of breakfast servings to the vibrant Juice Detox bar and the aromatic soup station, guests were treated to a culinary journey that delighted the palate and nourished the soul. The highlight of the feast was the Swahili-inspired dishes, showcasing the rich flavors and culinary heritage of the region.

As the Barbecue station came alive with sizzling delights such as grilled steaks and Shawarma, and the pasta corner offered delectable creations, guests revelled in the abundance of gastronomic delights that awaited them at every turn. And let’s not forget the decadent dessert options that provided the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal.

Following the sumptuous feast, the event transitioned to speeches from esteemed speakers, including SKAL International Nairobi President, Liz Tapawa, who shared inspiring insights and reflections on the importance of camaraderie and collaboration in the tourism industry. Finally, the afternoon culminated in the heartwarming recognition of various raffle winners and auction adding an element of excitement and anticipation to the proceedings.

The SKAL International Nairobi Chapter stands as a beacon of unity and friendship, bringing together tourism leaders from around the world in a shared commitment to promoting global tourism and fostering meaningful connections. With each luncheon, SKAL reaffirms its dedication to celebrating camaraderie, culinary excellence, and the vibrant spirit of the travel and tourism industry.

In the lush surroundings of Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages, the May Luncheon was more than just a gathering – it was a celebration of the bonds that unite us and the joys of sharing moments. INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF TRAVEL & TOURISM PROFESSIONALS KENYA CHAPTER

We are the Kenya chapter of a professional organization of tourism leaders, promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. Its members, the industry’s managers and executives meet at local, national, regional and international levels to discuss and pursue topics of common interest. The first Club was founded in 1932 in Paris by travel managers, following an educational tour of Scandinavia. The idea of international goodwill and friendship grew and, in 1934, the “Association Internationale des Skal Clubs” was formed with Florimond Volckaert as its first President, who is considered the “Father of Skal”. Skal International today has approximately 12,500 members in 309 Clubs throughout 76 countries. Most activities occur at the local level, moving up through National Committees, under the umbrella of Skal International, headquartered at the General Secretariat in Torremolinos, Spain. Skal International is governed by an Executive Committee of six members, elected by delegates to an annual General Assembly, held during the World Congress, hosted by a different country each year. This allows members first-hand observation of the travel and tourism potential around the world.
