Famed Nigerian artist and gallery owner NIKE SEVEN SEVEN OKUNDAYE who opened the NIGERIAN FESTIVAL staged by Alan Donovan in Nairobi as part of his 50th Anniversary celebrations which coincided with the OSHOGBO artists in Nigeria where he bought his first African art works in l967. Nike has spend the better part of her life reviving the textile arts of Nigeria like the indigo dyed “Adire” cloth which she wears with coral beads.
Nigerian Artist Nike Seven Seven Okundaye will be a special guest for the March 3 Gala Night of the Century to celebrate African Twilight at African Heritage House. She shared the stage with photographers Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher during the United Nations Decade of Womens Conference in Nairobi in l985. With her is Dorothy Oliech of Mochez models who will model in the show of March 3, wearing one of Nike’s silk batik creations.
