Explore A Multitude Of Wellness Modalities, From Sound Healing To Swahili Culture

Mark your calendars for Thursday, 6th to Sunday, 9th February 2025, as the stunning coastal town of Kilifi comes alive with the 6th Kilifi Wellness Festival. This highly anticipated event is a celebration of wellness, culture, and adventure, offering an unforgettable experience for participants of all ages.

Conceived in 2020 and realized in 2021, the festival has grown into a cherished annual tradition. Over the years, it has built a legacy of connection and transformation, with each edition growing in scope and energy. Now in its sixth edition, the 2025 Kilifi Wellness Festival promises to be the biggest and best yet, already attracting attention from Kenyan and international media outlets.

A Festival of Wellness and Diversity

Wellness is vast and varied, and the Kilifi Wellness Festival embraces this diversity wholeheartedly. Attendees can immerse themselves in an array of modalities, including yoga, nutrition, art, dance, journaling, sound, breathwork, mental health practices, and Swahili culture. Stand-out activities include yoga on a stand-up paddleboard, circus arts in the trees, and ZOCA, a high-energy African dance workout. Participants can also enjoy meditation, learn how to create their own herbal medical kits, and join discussions on spiritual philosophy, forgiveness, and guilt.

The festival also promotes environmental stewardship with a beach clean-up and mangrove planting along Kilifi Creek, ensuring the event leaves a positive impact on the local community.

Saturday, 8th February, is dedicated to families, with the renowned Moto Moto team from Diani leading a fun-filled day of kids’ activities, including art, yoga, beadwork, and acrobatics.

For those seeking more serene experiences, the festival offers blissful sound baths, cacao ceremonies, ecstatic dance sessions, sunrise meditations, and the ever-popular moonrise dhow cruises. Wellness professionals will also be on hand to provide private treatments, such as physiotherapy, Reiki, sound healing, bodywork, tarot readings, and more.

A Vibrant Market and Community Spirit

The festival’s market features a vibrant collection of items, including handmade jewelry, skincare products, health foods, coastal crafts, and fashionable apparel. It’s the perfect place to pick up unique treasures and support local artisans.

About the Teachers: Meet Tamara

Tamara, the founder of the Kilifi Wellness Festival, brings a wealth of experience and passion to the event. Her yoga certifications include 200 hours of Vinyasa Flow teacher training from Karuna Yoga Journeys in Lamu Island, Kenya; 200 hours of Hatha, Aerial Yoga, Acro-yoga, and SUP Yoga from ULU Yoga in Koh Phan Ngan, Thailand; and 200 hours of Yin Yoga teacher training from Karuna Yoga Journeys online.

Tamara embraces playful styles of yoga and believes in the importance of trying, falling, laughing, and rising again. Her foundation lies in Vinyasa Flow, with its seamless blend of movement and breath, which she has expanded into SUP Yoga, Aerial Yoga, and Acro-yoga. She views yoga as a lifestyle—a fusion of health, mindfulness, movement, and fun that extends beyond the mat.

Beyond yoga, Tamara is passionate about reading and traveling. She delights in immersing herself in books and exploring new cultures and experiences. Her lifelong love for dance and gymnastics has shaped her dynamic approach to yoga, which she describes as “meditation in motion.”

At this year’s festival, Tamara will be teaching SUP Yoga on Kilifi Creek with sessions on Friday, 7th February, and Saturday, 8th February, at 8:30–9:30 am and 9:45–10:45 am. In addition, she teaches regularly in Nairobi at Karura Forest and online via Zoom every Sunday at 11 am.
