In 2005, Anna Leali, a tireless worker and a woman with a deep passion for Africa, embarked on a remarkable culinary journey that would forever change her life and the dining scene in Kenya. Born in Brescia, Italy, Anna’s roots shaped her love for authentic Italian cuisine and inspired her to bring a taste of her homeland to the vibrant coastal town of Watamu.
Driven by her unwavering dedication to her craft and fueled by her love for Africa and family, Anna established the first Watamu pastry shop and ice cream parlor, Non Solo Gelato. From the moment its doors opened, the aroma of freshly baked goods and the tantalizing flavors of homemade ice cream filled the air, captivating the hearts and taste buds of locals and tourists alike.
Anna’s commitment to quality and her culinary prowess quickly earned her a reputation throughout Kenya. Despite her growing success, Anna remained humble, embracing the simplicity and spontaneity that characterized her early days in Watamu.
