Experience With Nev, Embracing Jordan’s Heritage A Tour Of Ajlon And Jerash Ruins

A Journey Through Time Unforgettable Experiences At Jordan- Day 2

Ajlon

On the second day of my trip to Jordan, I visited Ajlon, a city with a rich historical background. Ajlon is believed to have been inhabited since the Bronze Age and was an important city during the Roman Empire. The city is also known for its association with Saladin, who fought against the Crusaders in the 12th century.

As we walked through the city, I saw the ancient ruins and structures that spoke of the city’s history. I learned about the different civilizations that occupied the city and the impact they had on the culture and architecture. It was an incredible experience to see the layers of history embedded in the city’s landscape.

Jerash Ruins

Later, we visited the Jerash ruins, which were even more impressive. The ruins were sprawling, with ancient pillars and walls stretching out as far as the eye could see. As we explored, we passed by a market that sold traditional religious clothes and headscarves. One of our tour guides helped us to tie the headscarf, which was a unique experience.

The culture in Jordan was fascinating to see, and the people were friendly and welcoming. I was constantly amazed by the beauty and history of the places we visited.

Jerash is a city in Jordan, north of the capital Amman. Inhabited since the Bronze Age, it’s known for the ruins of the walled Greco‐Roman settlement of Gerasa just outside the modern city. These include the 2nd‐century Hadrian’s  Arch, the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis, and the huge Forum’s oval colonnade. The Jerash  Archaeological Museum displays artifacts excavated from the site.

Green Valley Restaurant

We ended our day in Jerash with a visit to the Green Valley Restaurant, and it was undoubtedly a highlight of our trip. The restaurant’s ambience was charming, and the staff provided exceptional hospitality, making our dining experience truly memorable.

To start, we enjoyed the refreshing taste of freshly squeezed juice, a perfect complement to the warm Jordanian weather. Then, we were treated to a feast of mouth-watering dishes that were prepared with great care and attention to detail. The Mansaf Maqlouba, a traditional Jordanian dish, was a standout for its rich and flavorful taste. Additionally, we savoured the Fattoush salad, grilled meats, and the famous Lebanese mezze dishes that were prepared to perfection.

Green Valley Restaurant is located on the main road south of the archaeological site of Jerash, and it is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in the area. The restaurant’s high-quality dishes, welcoming atmosphere, and impeccable service made for an unforgettable dining experience. After a long day of exploring, it was the perfect place to relax, unwind, and savour the tastes of Jordan. We left feeling grateful for the opportunity to experience such an exceptional culinary adventure.

Look forward to next week’s article where we shall talk about more experiences of day 3 in Jordan.
