New Locally Assembled Volkswagen T-Cross Enters The Kenya Market Targeting Young Professionals Price starting at Kshs.3.6M

The new locally assembled Volkswagen T-Cross was unveiled at the DT Dobie Showroom on Lusaka Road offering the young Kenyan motorist a blend of stylish design, safety features, innovative technology and comfort-first enhancements.

The launch of the T-Cross adds to Volkswagen’s growing range of locally assembled vehicles at the KVM facility in Thika affirming the Company’s commitment to promoting industrialization and job creation in Kenya.

The five-seater compact crossover SUV will appeal to young professionals looking for a well-priced, stylish, fuel-efficient vehicle ideal for daily office running, or for simply driving to enjoy out-of-town weekends and holidays.

The Volkswagen T-Cross has a 1.6 litre and 108 horsepower fuel-efficient engine mated with a six-speed automatic transmission. There are two trim specifications to choose from the Highline and the Topline both (two-wheel drive) with pricing starting from a very competitive Kshs. 3,600,000.00 million (inclusive VAT) and 4,300,000.00 million (inclusive VAT) respectively.

The long list of safety equipment includes Anti-locking Brake System (ABS), Anti-spin regulation (ASR) electronic stability control, engine drag torque control, cruise control and electronic immobilizer.

The key safety features in both models are a rearview camera, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic immobilizer, auto-dimming interior review mirror, and park distance control that completes the drive experience. There are three-point seat belts in the front with pre-tensioner and a 3 –point seat belt for the outer rear passenger.

The T-Cross boasts innovative technology and is ultra-connected right on the cutting edge of useful and playful technology. There is a mobile phone interface, wired and wireless App connection allowing the driver to connect to the digital world through the mobile phone which can be charged wirelessly by simply laying it in the Inductive charging tray.

This Volkswagen T-Cross is incredibly spacious with adequate room for five adults. The multi-color digital cockpit (Topline), 8-inch infotainment system, and LED headlamps for low and high beam add to the stylish features.

In 2016 DT Dobie launched the popular Volkswagen Polo Vivo which was the German manufacturer’s first locally assembled vehicle closely followed by the Caddy Kombi. Thereafter, the Company started the assembly of the hefty SUVs including the Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace, and the Touareg.

DT Dobie’s local assembly programme has brought new car ownership within reach of many more Kenyans as they are attractive and cost-effective alternatives to buying used cars. The buyers have the satisfaction of knowing that these cars will have to be driven for many years before they reach the mileage of a used imported car.
