Boma International Hospitality College 2nd African Cuisine Dinner – Sharing Moments
Boma International Hospitality College, Africa’s most revered Culinary and Hospitality institution held its 2nd African Night through a fining dining experience dubbed “Elengi Ya Afrika” (the elegance of Africa).
The African fine dining gastronomic tour sought to recreate 6 courses from 5 African countries, utilizing ingredients native to the nations of Kenya, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt and South Africa.
The event was graced by the diplomatic communities of the nations of Rwanda, Ethiopia, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, India and South Africa as well as leading hotel brands.
BIHC Director, Hon Joash Olum said, “We are proud to celebrate a Pan-African influence. With over 23 nationalities of students at BIHC, 18 of whom are African, there could be no other greater way than to showcase Africa through the culinary experience. And why not? As hoteliers in Kenya and the region, we have celebrated continental and international cuisine and barely contributed to showcasing and re-creating the cuisines of our grandma’s forever hold dear.
‘BIHC seeks to re-write this influence. To create an affinity for our own identity and allow us to evolve with our food as we have evolved with our culture and way of life.”
